Today was the day that we had Kat Martin, an animal trainer and behaviorist, come to our house to evaluate Copper. Good news- it's not aggression, it's fear and anxiety. This is what we always felt was wrong, because of his time in the shelter and who knows what before, but it was nice to have it confirmed by a professional. We worked on him accepting strangers in and around our home, excessive barking for attention, and desensitizing him to scary objects like the baby stroller and other things with wheels. She's sending us a detailed plan so we can help him with his fears. it's suggested he gets a weighted vest to wear, like the kind children with autism wear. The pressure makes them feel comforted. After we work on his people anxiety we get to work on socializing him with other dogs in the Relaxed Rovers class. Don't worry Copper, we got yo' back. You'll be playing in no time.
